Ice always freezes the opponent (unless you are wearing something like West), if Toshiro used his insta freeze on Yhwach it would freeze him, he'd just easily get out. That's the same as Gerard, probably. His hand is frozen but he is going easily break the ice next chapter. Toshiro has most certainly got stronger though, I pegged him at around Starrk level post Cang Du (Vs Mayuri) fight but he might be significantly stronger then that. It would be cool if he used Hollowfied Ice as well, make him fitting in with the Vizards a lot better since he is the only one who's Bankai was stolen to literally hollowfy (mask and all). And yeah, I expect to see all the Vizard Bankais (including Shinji) here, it would be akin to Kensei/Rose Vs Mask though, we'd get exposition but it won't be chapters long per Bankai, just several pages. Shinji's Bankai might make the cliffhanger though given his status. Byakuya's Bankai (assuming he has not used it yet, which is likely) might be used against Gerard, but its a bad match-up since at its core its function is still just going to be to cut things up, it might be better suited for Haschwalth in an upcoming battle.
On another note, I said before that the RG probably won't make a battle appearance again. But given that Gerard is the heart of the SK and he is noselling everyone, I could actually see them coming here and sealing him. We could also get some SK exposition from them while they are at it.
